How long does it take for someone to adjust to culture shock?

If someone lives in the city for 30 years, then moves to a smaller town, how long til they adjust? How long does it take for someone to adjust to culture shock? There are stages, like grieving.

30 years is a long time and there will be things they will always miss.

Because they won't realize all the changes in how people go about getting the everyday duties of life done, it will be a year or more before they adjust fully. How long does it take for someone to adjust to culture shock?I have been in a small town now for 2 years after living in Dallas, L.A. and San Diego for a combined 25 years. I still have not adjusted and am not sure I ever will. How long does it take for someone to adjust to culture shock? It took me about 1 month to adjust. But don't worry. When you begin to realize the benefits of small town living, you begin to appreciate the move you made. How long does it take for someone to adjust to culture shock? Each time I move far away it usually takes about one year before I feel comfortable and at home. I say one year. How long does it take for someone to adjust to culture shock? It depends on how open you are to the change.

I moved to a different country and it took me 3 years to adjust. You will never lose your love for things where you came from. With time, you will learn to appreciate the way of life in your new home - but it all depends on how willing you are to adapt. Only you will be able to decide that - but don't push yourself because it's very stressful moving to a new place without the added pressure of trying to accept everything at once.

Just take your time. When I used to get homesick, I would climb in bed and go under the covers and pretend I was back home for a bit. It just made me feel better. But you probably won't be that bad. I'm just soppy.... :-)

All the best!
