Thanks. How do i adjust the speed of my dvd rw drive? When you go to burn a disc there should be an options box for those settingsHow do i adjust the speed of my dvd rw drive?Hi

The maximum burn speed should be an option with most burning software at the final moments just before burning and after your file selection when you click ok .

The maximum burn speed is reliant on the maximum burn speed of the discs and the maximum speed of your drive.

If you are having burning speed problems it can happen when your computer slows burning of a problem disc but fails to return to full speed after.

1.Go to Control Panel%26gt;System%26gt;Hardware%26gt;Device Manager%26gt;IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

2.From there, right click on each of the channels and choose ꄶroperties%26gt;Advanced Settings?. The ꄄurrent Transfer Mode?for Hard drives is usually DMA 4-6 and DVD burners DMA 2-4..

.

Uninstall the the channel the drive is on and let the OS reinstall it. This will usually take a reboot. This will not damage any files on the computer. should be back to maximum burn speed. How do i adjust the speed of my dvd rw drive? The principle of burning discs faster may be appealing, but unfortunately, it causes more problems than you need.

1st, The faster the burn, the lighter the burn. A lighter burn cannot be read by all DVD players. Also, faster burns can often cause splatter which leaves the disc damaged.

For greater reliability and compatibility with other players, you should burn at 4 speed.

Though discs may say 16 speed, never burn more than half speed of stated max (8 speed), otherwise you will end up with a pile of cup mats. I know from experience that slower is better, even if time consuming.
