How do i adjust edge thickness in photoshop cs3 shapes?

I know how to do it with rectangles and squares and such, but i need to know how to do it with the %26quot;custom shape tool%26quot;



as an example, how do I make a star or heart with a 5 pt thick edge? THANK YOU!
