did they just adjust, or did they struggle for many years after that, or did they get a new ruler to help them? etc.How did china pick itself back up after the opium wars?wrong section.How did china pick itself back up after the opium wars?I think that China struggled for many many years after that, Great Britain made big trade surplus by selling opium to the Chinese. China became a semi-colony after the opium wars.

once free of their influence they were able to develop their country.
