Allowing her the ability to meet the ferret on her own terms is the best way to give her the time to adjust. It's important to never force the two together. Over time she may become curious on her own and this will give her control over her fears as well. How to help my cat adjust to new ferret?I had the same problem. So long as she isn't attacking the ferret it's ok. Don't force anything. My cat just avoided the ferret and would snarl if he got too close, and we would give her trouble. If he came close and she didn't act aggressive we would praise her. We got him in December, and only now is she tolerating him. She's not friendly, but they touch noses and she doesn't growl. Eventually she'll warm up to him. Just don't push it, and make sure she knows it's not good if she growls or snarlsHow to help my cat adjust to new ferret?Often cats and ferrets get along fine - just not in the way people expect. If your ferret and cat aren't best buddies and doing everything together, that's still fine - as long as they're not fighting and the cat isn't hitting your ferret in the head, and your cat isn't getting it's ears or face bit by your ferret, then you have a perfect situation!
Is your ferret free range? If not, your cats can easily just hide and stay out of the way when your ferret is out. Remember, they act hissy even if there is another cat or kitten. Just natural to be afraid of something new! But if your ferret is free range, they soon will learn to accept the ferret. My cats hid when I took home a new kitten, and didn't come out like normal for a month! It's normal if the cats are scared and nothing except for acting natural will help the process.
Even if you put the cat up to the ferret it will usually cause more tension and stress and fear, than letting the cat get used to the animal slowly on the cat's own schedule.
