when you figure out where the litterboxes are going to be, be sure to show them where they are so they have no trouble finding them when they need too. I would keep an eye on them because with new smells and new carpet they may pee. I suggest for the first week you wipe down both cats with a damp cloth and you wipe door frames and areas of the house to put their scent on things, this will help to make them more secure in their surroundings and eliminate their need to %26quot;spray%26quot; so to speak. As for sleeping with you no longer, buy them a cat bed and set them up in a laundry room or another room you can shut them away at night with their litterbox, do that the first night and get them into a routine of being locked away. We did this to our cats the laundry room was their place to sleep at night and were only let out during the day. Or simply close your bedroom door and don't allow them into your room at night.
Good luckHow to help adjust my two kitties to a brand new house? There is a product called Feliway. It is a synthetic cat pheromone and is sold in diffuser's (similar to the Glade plug in air fresheners) and spray. The product helps cats be calm and generally puts them in a good mood. I am using it now to introduce a new 12 week old kitten to my 10 month old kitten. I spent 30.00 on two oz. of the spray and figured it may or may not work and that I probably just p*ssed away 30 bucks. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THIS STUFF IS LIKE MAGIC. I HAVE SINCE BOUGHT 3 DIFFUSERS AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES IN MY CATS DEMEANOR. DO SOME RESEARCH AND READ SOME REVIEWS AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. I promise I do not work for Feliway. I am just a very sastified customer. How to help adjust my two kitties to a brand new house? If you're moving house then getting them to stop sleeping on your bed as well is great timing - it'll let them know that everything is changing. To stop your cats from running away, I've heard of a strange yet effective method - simply rub butter on their paws (which of course they will lick off) and this makes them feel more at home (I suppose it's a bit like having a shower after moving in somewhere new).
