-putri-How to adjust in other country when u are becoming a newcomer?I lived in Korea for a while, and it was a very hard adjustment. It takes years and years to really learn to fit in with a new culture. I read a lot of books on Korean culture before moving there to prepare myself. Even things like table manners, sidewalk ettiquette and the polite way to hand something to another person were different! I can't even begin to tell you how helpful those culture books were.

I found that there were many cultural differences in the way people think and behave. I tried to be respectful and understanding and sort of stayed to myself in social situations. I became a listener instead of a talker. I found making good friends was very difficult.
